Solar powered Community Hubs
Building a self-sufficient and resilient community
As a coastal community, Greater New Brighton is exposed to natural disasters related to climate
change. The damage caused by Cyclone Gabrielle to North Island communities shows how important
it is to be self-sufficient and prepared for extreme weather events. Having independent renewable
energy sources and communication means was essential for those communities in times of need.
This project aims to create a sufficient solar energy source to power the Community Emergency.
We are fortunate to have technical expertise and skilled people within our community. With our own manpower, we can execute this project efficiently and effectively. Local solar power specialists, electricians, engineers, and volunteers are ready to contribute their skills and knowledge to ensure the project’s success.
Being self-sufficient is the ultimate goal for the Greater New Brighton community. Creating an independent electricity source is one more step towards sustainable and self-sufficient living. With our combined efforts and local talent, we are confident in building a resilient and prepared community.
